Shadden Series 2 of 4 at CalYC

On Saturday, October 10th almost one-hundred and twenty juniors descended on California Yacht Club to compete in this year’s 2nd Shadden series event. With almost sixty FJs pushing the line off the coast of Marina Del Rey it was a spectacular sight. Light to moderate breeze, combined with large offshore swell and drastic wind shifts made for challenging conditions.

Tying for 1st and placing 2nd overall in the 58 boat fleet, Kate Rakelly and Colleen Hackett sailed extremely consistent, even earning two 2nd place finishes in varying conditions. In their first “outside the bay” ocean regatta together, Cole Baker and D’Amy Steward also sailed extremely consistent, placing 37th overall in a tough fleet.
