SDAYC Luff-in 4 of 4 at SDYC

San Diego Yacht Club hosted their Double-Handed Luff-In on Saturday, October 16th, and was a great opportunity for Team MBYC to send new, developing FJ and 420 teams to some local events. Large bay current factors and pretty strong breeze made the sailors work hard for their spoils. Max Brill and Abe Dearden teamed up in the FJ Class and placed 3rd overall, including a nice bullet to start the regatta off with. Just 3 points behind, Steven Leuck and Jack McGraw had consistent finishes and placed 4th. Jacob Raffee and Anthony Skipworth teamed up and sailed hard, placing 7th.

Shadden Series 2 of 4 at CalYC

On Saturday, October 10th almost one-hundred and twenty juniors descended on California Yacht Club to compete in this year’s 2nd Shadden series event. With almost sixty FJs pushing the line off the coast of Marina Del Rey it was a spectacular sight. Light to moderate breeze, combined with large offshore swell and drastic wind shifts made for challenging conditions.

Tying for 1st and placing 2nd overall in the 58 boat fleet, Kate Rakelly and Colleen Hackett sailed extremely consistent, even earning two 2nd place finishes in varying conditions.
